Homeschool Organization

Melwood Nazarene Academy is a Home School Umbrella program approved by Maryland State Department of Education.  We exist to support home schooling families in the community. We assist families with obtaining curriculum, designing lesson plans, securing support materials, record keeping, portfolio reviews, transcripts, and official school records. We have a lending library and a limited supply of science and social studies equipment available for loan to the families in our Academy. Pastor Janet Johnson is available to lead workshops and training sessions for families just beginning the home-schooling process.  Parents have the ability to network, share information, take field trips together, and hold co-op classes for their children.  All families are required to be members of Home School Legal Defense Association, and they must register with their county school board before joining Melwood Nazarene Academy.  Annual enrollment fees are $85 per family for students K-8th grade.  High School oversight is an additional $125 per student per year.
